Hosting. This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you open a page, Vercel processes server log data: the IP address of your device, date and time of the request, the address requested and the amount of data transferred, the HTTP status code, the referring page where one exists, and browser type and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel keeps these logs only briefly. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which covers the transfer to the USA (Art. 45 GDPR).
Reach measurement. To see how often the website is visited, which pages are read and which links bring visitors here, we use Vercel Web Analytics. When you open a page, a small script loaded from glidewright.com itself reports to Vercel: the address of the page, the referring page if you came from another website, and the time. From the request, Vercel also derives your approximate location (country, region, city), browser, operating system and device type. To count visits, Vercel forms a hash from the request that is discarded after 24 hours. No cookies are set and nothing is stored on your device; we only see aggregated statistics, never individual visitors, and nothing is linked with other websites. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website with a data-minimising measurement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time: if your browser sends “Global Privacy Control” or “Do Not Track”, the script is not loaded at all; tracking blockers also prevent the measurement.
Microsoft Store badge. The “Get it from Microsoft” badge is the official image, loaded from Microsoft’s server get.microsoft.com as Microsoft’s badge guidelines intend. Loading it transmits your IP address and the usual request data (browser, page address as referrer) to Microsoft. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing the official Store badge (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The badge and the other Store links lead to the Microsoft Store; what happens there is covered by Microsoft’s privacy statement.
No cookies. The website sets no cookies. The fonts (Geist) are served from glidewright.com, and everything except the Store badge comes from glidewright.com itself. If you pick a language, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage (glidewright-lang); it never leaves your device.
E-mail. If you write to us, we use your address and message only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed and no retention duty applies.
Your rights. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR); an informal e-mail is enough. You can also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb@dsb.gv.at).
The Glidewright app
As of: 30 October 2026 (Glidewright 1.0)
In short
Glidewright keeps everything on your own PC and sends us nothing. There is no account, no cloud and no telemetry. The app only goes online for the Microsoft Store license check, purchase and update check.
What you record
Glidewright only records what you start: a screen, a window or a region and – each one switchable – your microphone, your PC's sound (system audio) and your webcam. Windows asks for permission the first time the microphone and camera are used; you can revoke it in the Windows settings at any time. If you record other people (webcam, calls), you need their consent.
During a recording Glidewright also records where the mouse pointer is, when and where you click and the shape of the cursor. From the keyboard it only stores when you typed and shortcuts with Ctrl, Alt or Win (such as Ctrl + S) for the overlay in the video – never single keys or text. This only runs during a recording and can be switched off beforehand.
What the app stores on your PC
| What | Where | Content |
|---|---|---|
| Projects | Videos\ (folder can be changed) | screen video, audio tracks (microphone, system audio), webcam video, mouse, click and typing track, cursor images, thumbnail and your edits |
| Exports | Videos\ (folder can be changed) | the videos, GIFs and audio files you export |
| Settings | app data folder of the Store package, settings.json | your settings, e.g. language, folders, microphone, shortcut |
| License cache | app data folder, license-cache.json | the last known license state from the Microsoft Store, so Glidewright also starts offline |
| Log | app data folder, logs\ | technical log, at most 7 days: versions, device and encoder names, error messages – no content of your recordings, no file names, no text |
The app data folder is %LocalAppData%\. Uninstalling removes it with everything in it; your projects and exports in "Videos" stay until you delete them.
Error report
Settings → "Create error report" packs the log, the app version and information about Windows, the graphics card and encoders into a ZIP file on your PC. Project files and recordings never go into it. The file is not sent automatically; you decide whether to send it to support@ut-systems.com. If you do, we use it only to solve your problem and delete it afterwards.
Network
- Microsoft Store. Glidewright asks the Microsoft Store (through Windows) for its license – whether the trial is running, when it ends and whether you bought it – and whether an update is available. A purchase is handled entirely by Microsoft; we receive no payment or contact data, only aggregated sales figures. Microsoft is an independent controller for this processing; Microsoft's privacy statement applies.
- Nothing else. Glidewright has no telemetry, no automatic crash reports, no ads and uploads nothing. Links in the app (privacy, legal notice, support) are opened by you in your browser.
Your rights and contact
As Glidewright sends no personal data to us, we have none about your use of the app. Questions about this policy: contact@ut-systems.com. Your rights under the GDPR and the supervisory authority are listed above in the website part.
